AI-Powered Marketing

What is AI-Powered Marketing?

AI-powered marketing uses AI techniques to understand target groups better, create content and manage campaigns. Typical applications include segmentation, personalised messaging, forecasts of purchase likelihood, analysis of customer feedback and ad optimisation. It relies on lawfully collected data and clear objectives, and results should be verified through testing. Example: an online retailer sends newsletters with product recommendations that match previous buying behaviour.

Personalised marketing

Personalised marketing means tailoring messages, offers and timing to individual customers or small groups rather than addressing everyone in the same way. It draws on information such as past purchases, interests or the reason for contact. AI can turn this into suitable copy, for example an email that refers to a recently purchased product. It is important to use only data for which consent has been given and to leave out sensitive details.

AI Market Segmentation

AI market segmentation uses AI to divide a market or customer base into groups with similar characteristics, needs or behaviour. Traditionally this is done with clustering methods on customer data; language models can additionally derive segments from descriptions, surveys or enquiries and suggest messaging and channels. The results are hypotheses that should be validated with real data. Example: a software provider distinguishes price-conscious beginners from growth-oriented teams.

Sentiment analysis

Sentiment analysis automatically determines the mood or attitude a text expresses – usually positive, neutral or negative, sometimes finer-grained emotions. Businesses use it to evaluate large numbers of product reviews, support emails, surveys or social media posts and quickly see where customers are satisfied and where problems lie. Irony, sarcasm and mixed statements such as “fast delivery, disappointing quality” remain difficult, so samples should be checked by people.

Generative engine optimisation (GEO)

Generative engine optimisation (GEO) covers measures that help content become visible in, and be cited as a source by, AI-powered search systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity or the AI overviews in search engines. The term comes from a 2023 research paper. Key factors include clear, directly quotable answers, a clean structure, evidenced facts, up-to-date information and identifiable authors. GEO complements classic search engine optimisation (SEO) rather than replacing it.
