AI Partnership

What is AI Partnership?

An AI partnership is a collaboration between organisations to develop, introduce or responsibly shape AI solutions together, for example between companies and technology providers, universities or research institutes. Partners share expertise, data, infrastructure or costs. Clear arrangements on data use, intellectual property, liability and exit options are essential. The term also refers to initiatives such as Partnership on AI, a non-profit organisation founded in 2016.

AI Consultant

An AI consultant helps organisations use AI sensibly and responsibly. Typical tasks include assessing potential, selecting suitable use cases and tools, embedding them in existing processes and responsibilities, data protection and compliance questions, and training. Good consultancy weighs benefits and risks soberly and takes into account the people who work with the systems. Example: a mid-sized company clarifies which customer enquiries can be reliably automated.

AI Research Grants

AI research grants and funding finance research projects, early-career groups or collaborations in artificial intelligence. In Germany, for example, the German Research Foundation (DFG) funds Emmy Noether groups on AI methods as part of its AI initiative, while the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) awards funding through thematic funding guidelines. At EU level, Horizon Europe and the European Research Council (ERC) run calls. Deadlines and conditions change continually (as of October 2026).

AI-Driven Start-up

An AI-driven start-up is a young company whose product or business model is fundamentally based on artificial intelligence, such as specialised assistants for an industry, analytics tools or automated services. Such start-ups often build on existing foundation models and differentiate themselves through domain expertise, data, usability and integration. Challenges include dependence on model providers, cost per request and regulation. Example: a start-up that automatically prepares inspection reports for trade businesses.

AI Ethics

AI ethics deals with the moral questions surrounding the development and use of AI: fairness and discrimination, transparency and explainability, data protection, responsibility for errors, safety and the effects on work and society. For organisations it becomes concrete in guidelines, risk assessments, human oversight and honest communication about AI's limitations. Example: before a CV screening tool is introduced, it is checked for whether it disadvantages particular groups.
