What the agent can do.

    Retrieves sections and articles of German federal law in their official wording from gesetze-im-internet.de, the service of the Federal Ministry of Justice.

  • Case law of the federal courts

    Searches judgments and orders of the BVerfG, BGH, BVerwG, BFH, BAG, BSG and BPatG through the German federal legal information portal.

  • Search legislation

    Finds relevant provisions in federal statutes and regulations, even if you only know keywords.

  • Every statement referenced

    Provisions with a link; decisions with court, date, file number and ECLI. The agent marks its own assessment as such.

To be honest

The search uses the German federal legal information portal (Rechtsinformationsportal des Bundes), which is still in a test phase. The database is being built: federal law and the federal courts are included, state law and decisions of lower courts only in part. Commercial databases such as juris or beck-online are not connected.

The agent does not provide legal advice. It helps you find and cite sources; the assessment of the individual case remains with the qualified professional. Answers can contain mistakes, which is why every statement links to its source.

Working confidentially

Do not enter personal data from case files; describe the facts neutrally instead. The agent reminds you of this as well. To produce an answer, your input is sent to Claude (Anthropic); under Anthropic’s commercial terms, it is not used for training by default.

Questions about legal research.

Who is legal research for?

For lawyers in law firms, prosecutors’ offices, courts and legal departments who want quick access to German federal provisions and case law.

Does the agent replace juris or beck-online?

No. It uses freely accessible official federal sources. Commentaries, articles and many decisions of the lower courts are not available there.

Does it cover state law?

Only to a limited extent. The agent retrieves provisions verbatim for federal statutes. State law and decisions of lower courts are so far only partly included in the federal database.

In which language does the agent answer?

In the language of the question. It quotes statutes and decisions in the original German.

How do I set up the agent?

Under Templates, adopt the agent template “Legal research: statutes and case law”. The tools for statutes and case law are then already switched on.
